How Big Is Yours?

This is a 75cl bottle of Prosecco.

Do you know how much that bottle of Prosecco weighs? ^?

I can tell you that a bag of sugar weighs 2lb.
Or 1kg.

I was listening to the Sunny16 Podcast recently and two of the presenters – Ade and Graham – were commenting on how heavy their Bronicas were.
That got me thinking, so I chucked my Hasselblad onto the galley scales.

The weight of this bottle of Prosecco is 1.498kg. It 3lb. The equivalent of one and a half bags of sugar.

It weighed 1.487kg.
I did not have a bag of sugar handy but I did have a bottle of the Prosecco. So I weighed that as a comparison.

The weight of this bottle of Prosecco is 1.498kg. It 3lb. The equivalent of one and a half bags of sugar.

1.498kg. Almost the same. Or, one and a half bags of sugar.
Of course no camera weighing session would be complete without chucking the work kit on the scales, so here is my D810 with 24-70mm f2.8.

My Nikon D810 and 24-70mm f2.8 lens combine to way 2.350kg. Nearly two and a half bags of sugar.

2.350kg is coming on for two and a half bags of sugar. No wonder my daily bag is so heavy. No wonder my elbow hates me.

Heavy cameras aside, the Sunny16 Podcast is a very good listen. Ade, Graham and Rachel do a very entertaining line in analogue photography nerdism, irreverent banter and mucking about. If you fancy it you can hook up with the Sunny16 Podcast on Twitter Or find the Sunny16 Podcast Instagram here , or the Sunny16 Podcast FaceBook group here.
I only discovered them a few weeks ago and have been binge listening to their backlog of over 60 shows ever since.
I’m not sure if I am coming or going as far as where I am up to chronologically speaking, but I’m having a good time all the while. Please do check them out.
